Bike Dilemnas

I was able to test ride a Trek 1000 WSD for the weekend. Apparently, I'm not ready for a road bike. I'm just not comfortable riding in such a crouched position through town. The bike flew though!!! I am still looking for a new bike. I'm debating between a Trek 7.5 FX and a 2005 Fuji Royale that the bike shop will give me for about the same price. I rode the Fuji around the parking lot today and I think I like it. The bike shop is going to put a different stem on it and let me try it out at the same time as the Trek 7.5 FX so I can compare them. We'll see what happens!!!

Oooo! Pretty bikes. Looks like a tough decision, but a happy one.

I have an '04 Fuji Women's Finest (no longer made) and I LOVE it. I was afraid of the crouched position, and honestly, sometimes my tummy gets in the way. But how cares, I LOVE the SPEED.

GOOD LUCK!!!

You shouldn't have to be more crouched to ride a road bike on the top of the bars--you don't have to ride in the drops at all. If you ride more than an hour it really reduces strain and fatigue to have all the different hand positions that dropped handlebars give you, even if you only ride the tops, the corners, and on the brifter rests, never in the drops. I would suggest trying a road bike again making sure the handlebars are set up a few inches higher than the seat.

My first "real" road bike was/is a Trek 1000. I moved from a Giant Mountina Bike. What a difference! I still use it for commuting. PS: If you're crouching so much, have you had a proper bike fit?
